Activities Conducted by the N.S.S Unit in the Year-2009.

 

A campaign to save water and protect water sources was conducted by the N.S.S unit of the college during the 1st and 2nd week of January 2009. The main aim of the programme was to make people aware of the importance of preserving water for the future generations.
A special camp of 50 N.S.S volunteers was conducted at Anganavadi, Puliyannur and L.P.School, Puliyannur from 6th to 12th May 2009.The volunteers cleaned the Anganavaadi and School campus. The seven day camp included various leadership programmes for the volunteers.
The N.S.S volunteers of the college actively participated in the programme ‘Harithakeralam’ a greening project organized by the Dept of Forest jointly with the Dept. of Local Self Government, Government of Kerala on 5th June 2009. The programme was to plant one crore saplings in two years across the state. The N.S.S volunteers actively took the responsibility of planting saplings in the campus and after-care of the planted saplings.
The N.S.S unit conducted a blood group identification and blood donation camp on 23rd September 2009 in association with the Pariyaram Medical College. The Blood Bank Medical Offcer gave away the certificates to thirty students who donated blood.
The N.S.S unit of the college organized celebrations of Independence Day - 2009 with immense enthusiasm and pleasure. The Principal hoisted the flag at 9.am and gave a good message to the students. Various competitions for the students like Malayalam Speech, Patriotic Song were conducted on the day.
